Star that boasts "caring in action"Living Choice Program

Need help moving from a nursing home back into the community?

Oklahoma's "Living Choice" Program will be unveiled early next year and will offer assistance to individuals desiring to move back into the community from a nursing home.

Some of the benefits will include: Assistance with transportation, housing, personal care, medications, locating a community doctor, paying utility deposits, obtaining legal documents such as a birth certificate or State ID, establishing a checking account, home furnishings, and home modifications.

Living Well Program

Are you as healthy as you want to be?  Are you doing the things you enjoy?

Even if you have an ongoing or chronic health problem, you can still be healthy!  Find out how by signing up for the Living Well Program, a health promotion or wellness program for adults with physical disabilities.  Staff from Ability Resources will be conducting this free workshop at area housing complexes starting this fall.

Travel Training

Ability Resources is offering travel training on the regular fixed-route bus system in Tulsa.  The training is one-on-one, with emphasis on taking the participant out onto city buses.  Expected outcomes of the training include knowing how to:
  • Locate the nearest bus stop.
  • Plan a trip through Tulsa Transit's telephone service.
  • Read the bus schedule.
  • Read the bus route map.
  • Board, pay fare and disembark the bus.
  • Recognize key landmarks.
  • Make a trip requiring a transfer.
  • Make trips independently.
  • Use services available at bus terminals.
